The French government has recently awarded the rank of Chevalier in the Ordre National de la Legion d'honneur to Bryan Hewertson for his work in liberating France during the Normandy landings. Bryan - who lived in Stainton and sang in St. Mark's church choir in his youth - sadly passed away last year, but it is good to hear that his bravery has at last been recognised.
