Two new faces on the Parish Council

June’s meeting of the Parish Council welcomed two new faces to the council – Joan Lind, of Crow Park Farm on Hawes Lane, and John Bateson, of Bolefoot, Oxenholme. Joan was elected in May but unable to attend the May meeting and John was co-opted onto the council at the June meeting. The full draft minutes of the meeting are available to download here.

John was born in Oxenholme 60 years ago and christened at St Mark’s Church. His family are all local and his grandparents moved into the village in 1941. He is writing a history of Oxenholme and is a former Kendal Town Councillor and Town Mayor.

Joan, who was brought up near Inverness, is married to Henry Calvert whose family have owned Crow Park for many years. They and their two children, Tommy and Anya, moved ‘back’ to Natland from Sydney, Australia in April 2013.

We still have one vacancy on the council for anyone who lives within 3 miles of the parish boundary and would like to contribute to looking after our parish. Please contact anyone on the Parish Council page of this website to find out more.
