The speaker at the April meeting of the WI was Wendy Ellwood, author of Gran on the Run, who learned to run in 9 months in order to tackle the Great North Run and ended up raising over £10,000 for a charity related to a rare condition suffered by her granddaughter. The meeting also reported on upcoming WI excursions and featured a limerick competition, won by Kirsten Cannon’s contribution on the theme of the Queen’s 90th birthday.
