After all these years the Home Field below Appletree School has been earmarked for development. Over the railway land at the end of Fell Close and the land alongside the Burton Road between Castlesteads and the Filling Station has also been allocated for housing. Although these are in Oxenholme they will certainly be visible from Natland, and the foreground of Helm will be affected. Behind the bus shelter at the end of Oxenholme Lane it is proposed that land should be set aside for a business park.
