There's been good news recently from BT on three fronts which should mean faster internet access for folk in different areas of the village. (Thanks to John Johnstone for the tip-offs.) I'd be interested to know whether anyone has noticed a difference by the end of this month when things have settled down.
Finally, it seems as if fibre optic technology might reach us (finally) in the autumn. If the slight uplift in the copper wire speeds over the next month just isn't enough for you, the next step would be to register an interest in 'BT Infinity' (for BT users, or other fibre optic services with whoever your provider is) on the BT (or other) website. If you can¹t find a link for your supplier, email me lois.sparling@gmail.com and I'll be happy to help.
Thank you

On 30 July BT announced that it had upgraded the Sedgwick exchange, along with three others in Cumbria. This should mean that speeds increase for most residents who get their broadband over standard BT lines (even with other providers), although as they reach us via New Hutton those speeds will still be very slow. This week BT has also announced that the Kendal exchange upgrade is about to start (with interruptions to service over the next fortnight while it does), so some of us on the Kendal side of the village will be affected by that.
