From today (1 August) Natland residents can sign up to join South
Lakeland District Council's new 'Power up your community' scheme. On 18
September SLDC will hold an 'auction' for the supply of energy to local
households, with the energy supplier with the best tariff winning the
contract. The more people who register (online at
www.southlakeland.gov.uk or by calling 0845 050 4434, with your figures
for your annual gas/electricity usage to hand) the better the deal SLDC
should be able to get - and there's absolutely no obligation involved if
you do register. A week after the auction you will simply be sent the
details of the new energy deal on offer and have the option whether to
switch to the winning supplier or not. It's absolutely up to you. For
