Commenting on the Planning Appeal

The last date for receipt of comments for the public inquiry on the proposed development on the land to the east of Longmeadow Lane is the 8th February. Click here to access The Appeals Casework Portal to the Planning Inspectorate where you can add to what has already been said. (This portal is proving very difficult to use. It is possible to put your views via this email address:  holly.dutton@pins.gsi.gov.uk, and you don't need to register.)

Sausages was the theme of the January meeting as members learnt about diversification at Kitridding Farm. Click here for a full report.  The date of the next meeting is Wednesday 21st February at 7.15 in Natland Village Hall when a speaker will be a representative from Blood Bikes.

Art Exhibition in the Village Hall


The Village Hall Management Committee invite you to enter paintings in the Art Exhibition to be held in Natland and Oxenholme Village Hall on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th March 2018.  This annual event is held to showcase local talent and also raise money for hall funds. 
The closing date for receipt of entry forms is Monday 26th February, and individual artists may enter up to 4 paintings for sale in the exhibition. 
Full details of how to enter and entry forms can be found below. Entry forms are available either as a PDF, or a Word document which can be edited and returned by email.
The exhibition will be open to the public on the Saturday from 10am to 4pm and on Sunday from 11.30am to 4pm.  Tea/coffee and home-made cakes will be on sale in the small hall.

Heartstart Training

A session has been arranged for Heartstart Training by First Responders on Wednesday 28 February at 7.00 pm at St Mark’s School, Natland.

If you wish to enrol, please sign the list at Natland Post Office. Places will be on a First come, first served basis. The limit is 25 - 30 places, dependent on staffing, and there will be a waiting list if necessary, so that we can arrange further session if there is a demand. 

Training will include CPR and the use of the defibrillator.

The local PCSO for Natland will be holding a regular drop in style event at The Post Office on the 3rd Thursday every month (which is 18th Jan for the next one).
She is Marion Jeffery, PCSO 5383, South Lakeland and is based at Kendal Police Station, Busher Walk, Kendal LA9 4RJ.

Parish Council Meeting on Monday.

There will be a meeting of Natland Parish Council in Natland Village Hall on Monday 15th January 2018 at 7pm. They have a lot on the agenda. There's a cash statement, a budget statement, a budget reporttimetable for the annual report, comments on planning matter,and spring litter hunt proposal.

Monday Gentle Yoga

A 6 week course will be starting on the 22nd January aimed at people who want to maintain their mobility, flexibility, balance, co-ordination, muscle strength and ability to relax. Classes start with relaxation on chairs. There are modifications for vulnerable areas and movements and teaching methods adapted for level of ability.

The course will be held in Natland and Oxenhholme Village Hall and is open to all. It costs £18 in advance or £5 per time if you drop in.

The course will be held on 22nd and 29th January, 5th and 26th February and 5th and 26th March, from 2.30-3-30.

The defibrillator has landed

We have got there!!

Natland now has its own defibrillator. The group would like to thank all those people 
who contributed so generously to make this happen, and Natland Parish Council and the Village Hall committee for agreeing to site it on their wall. 

Training will be arranged in the New Year for those people who want it. In the meantime if it is necessary to use it please dial 999 to get the code to open it and follow the instructions of the 999 operator.

December statistics are almost identical with 2014 for that month. It has been cooler than the last two years, and wet, but below December average.

The year overall was above average rainfall with 64.4 ins compared to average of 56 ins.

Oakmere Homes to appeal against planning refusal

South Lakeland District Council has sent out letters informing people of the Public Inquiry which will be held sometime after the 8th February against their decision to refuse planning permission to the developers who wanted to build 55 houses on the land to the east of Long Meadow Lane.
