Long time Oxenholme resident David Aris has been raising money for St. John’s Hospice in Lancaster ever since he lost his wife, June, five years ago, and the hospice was so supportive to them both. He’s now 94 but his latest stunt has been to make a descent down the very fast zip wire in north Wales. The video he has of the event is quite scary, and the sight has impressed a lot of people, so much so that he has raised nearly £7,500 so far.
