W.I. Reports of last two meetings

     At the January meeting of Natland & Oxenholme W.I. Marion Thornton presided, and welcomed 30 members, 1 new member and a guest.
     Members were encouraged to become involved in the 'Woolpack' project, to make cushions using British Wool, which are to be presented  as gifts from the British people to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Atheletes.
        Sylvia Shaw reported from the consultative meeting the results of  the County's votes for this years resolutions to be put forward at the national A.G.M
       The evenings speaker, Stephen Lockwood, a director working on the production of the popular Television programme 'Countryfile', gave an enlightening account of how it is researched, filmed and put together for it's weekly prime time viewing audience.
       Winner of the local photograph competition was Pat Tetlow.

      At the February meeting of Natland & Oxenholme W.I. The President, Marion Thornton, welcomed  local speaker Enid Holmes, whose entertaing talk entitled 'Fitting in, in France', told of her adventures and amusing experiences whilst acquiring a rural village property in South  West France, fitting in with the neighbours, their customs and food, and introducing them to 'hotpot' and 'trifle'.
The speaker donated her fee to 'Cancer care'.
      The competition, 'Best of French' was won by Pat Davidson.
      At the business meeting Stella Howes agreed to be our delegate to the Spring Council Meeting in April.
     The finished 'Olympic cushion', knit co-operatively by several members, was admired.
      Next meeting will be held on 21st March. The speaker will be Judith Moore, from Friends of the Lake District.
