Report of January's Women's Institute Meeting

There was a good attendance at the New Year meeting of Natland and Oxenholme W.I in January, when president Marion Thornton welcomed members, visitors and guest speaker David Ratcliffe. He spoke of his love for long distance running, a hobby he found after joining a club, and training hard. He has competed  in numerous charity marathons, including  London and New York, and run coast to coast across England in five days. His sport has taken him worldwide on various Charity projects, and he even managed to go for a run in Lapland, but his shortest and proudest run was in Kendal carrying the Olympic Torch which he brought to the meeting.

The monthly competition, a medal, was won by Dorothy Goddard.

Next meeting will be held on Wednesday 19th February at 7.30pm  in the Village Hall, Natland, when the speaker will be Geoff. Wood: 'The Life and Times of a Sewer Rat.'
