Welcome Views in the Churchyard yesterday
We were very pleased to see this female toad amongst the honeysuckle yesterday. Don't know whether she was quite so pleased to see us - she had to hop away, laiden as she was with toadspawn. Martin and Elspeth Jayne.

Bus Services Restored,
In line with re-opening of schools on Monday 8th March the full timetable of Kendal bus services has been restored, so service 41/41A is running at its usual half-hourly frequency.
Stagecoach services on other routes (eg 555, 505, 599) have also reverted to their full winter timetable, and the frequency of these will increase again when the summer timetable starts on Saturday 27th March. Sarah Roberts.

South Lakeland District Council announces changes to green waste bin collection
South Lakeland District Council has announced it is aiming to make one green bin collection per household each month until further notice.
Last month, SLDC said that green waste collections were suspended in the South Lakes due to staffing pressures brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The suspension has now been lifted, but green waste bins will only be collected once a month.
SLDC is urging residents to follow these steps: check your collection calendar and leave your green bin out on your next scheduled collection day, if your bin has not been emptied by the end of the day please take it back in present your green bin again on the next scheduled green bin collection day according to your calendar. Marilyn Irons.
Meanwhile Don Shore writes:
Saw this a couple of weeks ago. Left ours out for Monday morning but not taken so now hoping for Monday 22nd.

A Chance to Steer a Trip Boat in the Northern Reaches of the Lancaster Canal
Narrowboat Waterwitch is owned and operated by the Lancaster Canal Trust and offers trips to the public on the Northern Reaches of the canal above the disused Tewitfield Locks. Sadly the coronavirus pandemic meant the trip boat wasn’t able to operate in 2020 but the trust hopes to be sailing again as soon as covid restrictions allow and we need more crew. Click here for more details.
The Canal Trust website also informs us that the bridge at Crowpark has been scheduled for repair by the County Council in the spring.
